An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for an Education Administrator – Admissions and Year Group Support. This key role will support the Education Officer – Recruitment and Admissions in the delivery of the Department’s taught education programmes. The Education Administrator will provide administrative support for Departmental activities in relation to admissions and year group support. This is a full‑time, open‑ended post.

What you would be doing:

  • Delivering end-to-end administrative support for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions, managing high-volume enquiries and application pipelines, coordinating selection activities, and maintaining accurate records and data.
  • Supporting recruitment and admissions processes across the Department, including stakeholder liaison, event coordination, reporting, and providing administrative support to academic staff and senior leadership.
  • Supporting the organisation and delivery of undergraduate field trips, including coordinating logistics such as travel and accommodation, maintaining participant records, managing equipment, and monitoring attendance.
  • Supporting year group administration across all stages of the undergraduate programme, including coordinating Personal Tutor allocations and delivering key activities such as Design Week, Group Design Projects, and final‑year research projects and events.
  • Providing administrative and operational support across the department, including key events, staff support, process improvements, and maintaining clear guidance and procedures.

What we are looking for:

  • You will be educated to A level standard (or equivalent) plus GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A relevant administrative or higher education qualification (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
  • You will also have proven experience in a busy, customer‑focused administrative environment, with the ability to manage high volumes of enquiries and strong proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
  • You will also have experience of university admissions processes (i.e UCAS and/or postgraduate admissions).
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems and databases, with the ability to learn new systems quickly, and a comprehensive understanding of data accuracy, record keeping, and confidentiality (including GDPR) are essential.
  • Understanding of higher education structures and processes is desirable.
  • You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organisational ability, high attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
