We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Manager to lead the Communications Team at the Grantham Institute.
- What you would be doing
- Implementing the Institute’s communications strategy and growing the Institute’s influence in both digital and traditional media.
- Seeking opportunities to improve communications methods and processes to increase impact.
- Representing the Institute in all university-wide communications, events and societal engagement meetings.
- Leading the ongoing development and application of key messaging, language guides, and tone of voice for Grantham Institute communications.
- Advising others within the Imperial community on best practice in climate change and environment communications.
- Leading communications planning for Grantham Institute projects.
- Delivering and oversee a range of communications services, through training, advice and assisting staff at all levels.
- Overseeing the application of Imperial’s and the Institute’s brand.
- Championing the use of the new Dynamics CRM in communications, events, outreach and public engagement activities
- Developing and supporting the Communications team in line with the Imperial Values, ensuring that wellbeing, workload and EDI plans are in place.
- What we are looking for
- Degree level in a relevant subject, or demonstrable career progression to the appropriate level in Communications, Campaigning, Engagement, Events, Outreach, etc. in a related field to climate change and environment.
- Experience working in higher education or innovation, or otherwise working with evidence to design and deliver strategic communications outputs.
- Experience in leading a team, demonstrating people skills and development of others.
- Demonstrated high level of copywriting in English and editing the work of others.
- Demonstrable experience in climate change and the environment, the role of academic evidence in driving for solutions to the climate crisis, and understanding of climate change media debates and narratives
- Ability to produce high quality work to tight deadlines.
- Good problem-solving skills, handling issues as they arise and developing guidelines and precedents for unique cases as they are encountered.
- Ability to design processes and use CRM systems to increase engagement with target stakeholders.
