This is an exciting opportunity for a senior BMS to work in The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) Blood Transfusion Laboratory, Manchester assisting the Lead BMS in the daily management of the department on a 12 month fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
- You will have a strong transfusion background and be looking to develop managerial and professional responsibilities in a progressive and forward-thinking department, working with a friendly and collaborative team within blood sciences.
- The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing quality improvement and innovation initiatives for the transfusion laboratory.
- The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator who enjoys working in a busy, complex environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and achieve tight deadlines.
- The successful candidate will be involved in the operational responsibility for our UKAS accredited Blood Transfusion laboratories, located in The Doctors Laboratory Manchester, and for Blood Transfusion Quality Management across several remote private hospital sites.
- You will be key to supporting the ongoing Blood Tracking system across the TDL/HSL group, and to implementing the new BT LIMS over the next 12 months.
- We are looking for a Biomedical Scientist, with experience of change management, to support operational leadership for the department going forwards.
- Your work will ensure that the department continues to deliver a high quality, timely and effective service, where patient experience and safety is central.
- The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of an enthusiastic team with a 'can-do' positive attitude.
