Sonic Healthcare UK includes The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). We provide pathology services to NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers, with over 2,500 staff across the UK.

Our main laboratory is located at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, with an expanding site in Manchester and smaller hospital-based labs across the country. We uphold high standards of quality while delivering efficiencies through workforce planning, pioneering technology, and infrastructure investments.
Job Summary:
We are a company that runs hospital laboratories across the UK. We seek talented developers to extend a next-generation laboratory results system that records test results and makes information accessible for doctors.
Work Location:
This is a hybrid role based in London, utilizing Teams for meetings and communication. Our head office is a new laboratory near Kings Cross, one of Europe\’s largest diagnostic labs with advanced robotic systems and high-spec facilities. Occasional visits to labs may be required.
What We Are Doing:
Hospital lab systems have seen little evolution in decades, presenting opportunities for innovation. We have built a web platform deployed on Kubernetes in Azure, operating across multiple hospitals in London. The system connects to blood testing machines and hospital systems to send results to patients. We need experienced developers to enhance this system, working with a team of three developers, IT operations, and scientific staff.
Who Are You?
You are a well-rounded developer with experience in front-end and back-end development, familiar with full-stack concepts. You take ownership of your systems, seek improvements, and write clear, maintainable code.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience with Azure
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and understanding complex requirements
- Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and Azure Kubernetes (highly desirable)
- Experience in regulated industries like healthcare, with QA compliance knowledge
