About the Role
Full‑time Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) – Sample Reception, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Brockley Hill, Stanmore, Middlesex (HA7 4LP).
Permanent, full‑time (37.5 hours per week).
Salary up to £25,800 per annum, dependent on experience.
The role provides training and support for a wide variety of specimen handling tasks within a 24/7 pathology service covering haematology, blood transfusion, biochemistry and infection sciences.
The successful candidate will receive full training and is expected to cover a rotating shift roster that includes core, late, night, weekend and bank‑holiday duties.
Responsibilities
- Receive, triage, record and track all laboratory specimens.
- Perform pre‑analytical preparation for diverse specimen types and testing requirements.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and contribute to the upkeep of good laboratory practice.
- Participate in the quality management system through audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement activities (CAPA).
- Assist in ensuring accurate data entry and documentation for analytical departments.
- Work within a 24/7 service schedule, including core, late, night, weekend and bank‑holiday shifts, as part of a shift rota.
