Join the SONI Graduate Scheme 2026 (Engineering) at SONI - System Operator for Northern Ireland. SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) is Northern Ireland’s Transmission System Operator (TSO) and manages the electricity grid to ensure a safe, reliable supply while driving decarbonisation.

Graduate Programme

The two‑year SONI Graduate Development Programme offers structured rotations across three core areas with real responsibilities and a range of activities to grow knowledge of our business and develop core industry skills.

Entry Level Roles

Success graduates will work within a designated team, gaining exposure to technical planning, operational, analytical, research and electricity market activities. Graduates play a key role in shaping the transmission grid and supporting the transformation of the power system.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2.1 grade in your primary or secondary degree and graduated no more than 12 months before the programme start.
  • Strong analysis, judgement, problem‑solving, interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Strong communication skills and awareness of customer and stakeholder needs.
