SONI Graduate Programme 2027 SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) is Northern Irelands Transmission System Operator (TSO). The Graduates play a key role in shaping the transmission grid in Northern Ireland and support the transformation of the power system and enable the transition to a low carbon energy future in Northern Ireland. They also play a key role in strengthening SONIs engineering capability to allow for succession planning in engineering roles, to allow for internal promotions, rotations and retirements. The Graduate Programme Our Graduate Development Programme is open to all new and recently qualified engineering and IT graduates. As a successful graduate on the Graduate Programme, you will have the opportunity join the two-year SONI Graduate Development Programme. The Programme provides structured rotations across three core areas, offering assignments and exposure to a wide range of activities and teams across SONI. Throughout the Programme, you will be provided with real responsibilities and a range of activities to ensure you grow your knowledge of our business and develop the core skills and competencies to be build a successful career in the energy industry. Entry Level Roles Successful graduates will have the opportunity to work within a designated team while collaborating across the wider business. They will gain valuable experience in a dynamic sector, contributing to a range of activities including technical planning, operations, analysis, research, and electricity market initiatives. Skills & Experience To be eligible to apply, applicants must have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a minimum 2:1 classification in their primary or secondary degree and have graduated no more than 12 months before the Programme start date. Graduate Engineering Programme We welcome applications for our Graduate Engineering Programme from graduates in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Physics and Engineering Mathematics. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to apply and develop their technical expertise within our different functions and areas of the business, gaining hands-on experience in the management and development of Northern Irelands electricity system. Graduate IT Programme We welcome applications for our Graduate IT Programme from graduates in Computing & Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Software Engineering and related disciplines. Our programme offers opportunities to develop technical and professional expertise across a range of areas, including IT Architecture, Business Analysis, IT Project Management, Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI), playing a key role in designing the systems and technologies that enable SONI's operations and the future evolution of the electricity grid. You will demonstrate your motivation and interest in working in the energy sector. You will have strong analysis, judgement, problem-solving skills; strong interpersonal and team working skills to work collaboratively with colleagues. You also need strong communication skills and have an awareness of customer and stakeholder needs and expectations. How do I Apply?
