A leading international law firm with a highly regarded London presence is continuing to invest in its Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation capability. The team sits within a broader strategic advisory and regulatory-focused practice that operates at the intersection of technology, regulation, enforcement and complex commercial arrangements.

The London group works closely with colleagues across the US and Europe, advising sophisticated clients on high-stakes, often first-of-their-kind matters involving data, digital platforms, emerging technology and regulatory risk. The practice is known for combining deep technical excellence with genuinely commercial, pragmatic advice.

This is a senior hire into a lean, high-quality team where lawyers are given significant responsibility, early client exposure and the opportunity to lead matters rather than operate as execution-only support.

Practice Breadth

The role spans the full lifecycle of data, technology and regulatory advisory work, including:

  • UK and EU data protection and privacy advisory (UK GDPR, EU GDPR, DPA 2018)
  • Cyber security, incident response and data breach management
  • Regulatory investigations and engagement with supervisory authorities
  • Cross-border data transfers and global data governance frameworks
  • Online safety, platform governance and digital regulation
  • AI governance and compliance under evolving UK and EU regimes
  • Consumer law and advertising regulation
  • Technology, SaaS, cloud, licensing and outsourcing agreements
  • Data and regulatory aspects of M&A, joint ventures and strategic partnerships

Rather than being siloed, associates work across advisory, transactional and regulatory matters, making this particularly attractive for lawyers who want a genuinely broad and future-facing technology practice.

Core Responsibilities
  • Advising clients on UK and EU data protection law and regulatory guidance
  • Designing and implementing international data governance and compliance frameworks
  • Leading on cyber incidents, breach response and regulatory investigations
  • Advising on online safety, platform regulation and digital governance obligations
  • Supporting clients on AI-related regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, privacy policies and related documentation
  • Advising on data and regulatory issues in commercial contracts and corporate transactions
  • Collaborating on cross-border matters with US and European teams
  • Contributing to client alerts, articles, training and external thought leadership
Candidate Profile

The team is looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience across privacy advisory, cyber and incident response
  • 4 - 7 PQE
  • Comfort working on complex UK and EU regulatory frameworks
  • Exposure to online safety, AI regulation, consumer or digital regulation
  • Experience advising on data issues within commercial or corporate transactions
  • The ability to lead matters independently and manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in building long-term client relationships
Culture & Progression

This is a role within a team that prioritises quality over volume. Associates are trusted, visible and closely involved in client relationships and strategic discussions. The practice values initiative, intellectual curiosity and commercial awareness, and provides a platform for senior associates to continue developing towards leadership roles within the group.

Why Apply?

For senior associates who want to move beyond a narrow data protection remit and into a genuinely integrated technology, regulatory and commercial practice, this role offers:

  • Exposure to complex, high-profile and emerging regulatory issues
  • A broad, future-proof practice spanning data, AI, online safety and tech transactions
  • Meaningful responsibility and autonomy
  • A collaborative, international platform with strong London focus
  • A compelling opportunity for lawyers looking to position themselves at the forefront of digital regulation and innovation.
