Are you an experienced Electrical Project Engineer who wants to use your technical judgement on complex energy projects — without being tied to site or pushed into people management? This role offers the chance to work on challenging, grid-connected assets where experience, sound engineering judgement and attention to detail genuinely matter.

Our client delivers complex energy infrastructure projects across the UK, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated electrical and control systems. They are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support multiple projects by providing technical assurance, problem-solving and engineering input from detailed design through commissioning and handover. This is a technical role across a portfolio of projects across the UK. Most work is centrally managed, with site visits for key reviews, meetings and milestones.

In this role, you’ll act as a senior, experienced electrical engineer, contributing technical judgement across live projects, including:

  • Reviewing, challenging and assuring electrical designs to ensure safety, compliance and buildability
  • Supporting protection, control, SCADA and system integration activities
  • Providing technical input through installation, commissioning, energisation and operational readiness
  • Helping resolve complex electrical or grid-compliance issues as they arise
  • Engaging with DNOs, OEMs and contractors on technical matters

This role suits engineers who enjoy being hands-on with engineering problems, adding value through experience rather than hierarchy.

The background that fits: You don’t need to tick every box, but this role will suit you if you have:

  • A HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid experience delivering electrical engineering within energy, power systems, renewables or grid-connected infrastructure
  • Good technical understanding of HV/LV systems, protection engineering, transformers, inverters and control/SCADA systems
  • Experience supporting commissioning activities and resolving technical issues
  • Familiarity with DNO processes and grid compliance requirements (e.g. G99/G100)
  • Experience with BESS or grid services is essential
