We are seeking an Acoustic Positioning Lead to drive the development and implementation of next-generation subsea positioning and communications solutions. This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists in designing, testing, and deploying cutting‑edge technologies that underpin the future of underwater operations.
If you join, what you’ll do:
- Lead the strategy, design, and development of advanced acoustic positioning systems (USBL, LBL, and beyond).
- Guide product development from concept through to launch, ensuring robustness, ease of use, security, and interoperability.
- Define and maintain embedded architectures in collaboration with hardware and software teams.
- Mentor and inspire a team spanning hardware, software, and test engineering disciplines.
- Represent Sonardyne at industry events, technical reviews, and customer engagements.
- Stay at the forefront of acoustic navigation and communications technologies to maintain our leadership in the field.
Ideally we are looking for:
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
- 5+ years’ experience in underwater acoustic systems and embedded systems engineering.
- Proven expertise in embedded architecture, system design, and C/C++ programming.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to model and evaluate system performance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence peers, stakeholders, and customers.
It would be a bonus if you had:
- Experience with USBL and LBL system design.
- Linux RT embedded applications.
- System architecture design.
- Project/program management.
