About the Role
We are looking for a Graduate Systems Test Engineer to join our Engineering team at Blackbushe. This role sits within our Systems Test Team and offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle, working on advanced subsea technologies used in offshore energy, ocean science, and maritime security. As part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to the testing and validation of complex systems, including both hardware and software. You will work closely with engineers across multiple disciplines, helping to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and usability.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Plan, develop, and execute system tests for a range of products and applications.
- Test functionality, performance, usability, and stability of integrated systems.
- Analyse technical specifications and translate them into effective test plans.
- Carry out exploratory and release testing to identify potential issues.
- Investigate, document, and track faults through to resolution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of product quality and testing processes.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and firmware teams across Engineering.
- Provide clear feedback through reports and team discussions.
- Support trials and demonstrations at our Plymouth test and training facility.
- Assist with installation, testing, and customer support activities (onshore and offshore).
- Contribute to test estimates and project planning activities.
- Continue to develop technical skills through training and on-the-job learning.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Ocean Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a logical, methodical approach.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams.
- A strong interest in testing and understanding user needs.
- Competency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Awareness of different testing methodologies (e.g. system, functional, exploratory, regression).
- Experience working with data sets and interpreting results.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira or similar lifecycle management systems.
- Self-motivated, organised, and adaptable approach.
- Interest in continuous improvement and innovation.
Additional Information:
- Some travel will be required, primarily within the UK, including visits to our Plymouth facility.
- Opportunities for offshore work and international travel may be available.
- Offshore training and medical clearance will be required for certain activities.
