We are now looking for a Lead Generation Representative to join our Sales team at Blackbushe. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is motivated by building relationships, enjoys speaking to people and wants to develop a long-term career in a technical and commercially focused environment.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Generation Representative, you will play an important role in building and developing Sonardyne's sales pipeline. Working closely with our Sales and Marketing teams and Channel Partners, you will identify potential customers, understand their requirements and establish meaningful conversations that create new commercial opportunities. This is a primarily office-based role, supported by structured onboarding and comprehensive training. You don't need to be an expert in subsea technology when you join us; we'll help you develop the technical knowledge and commercial understanding you need to succeed. You'll gain exposure to sophisticated, market-leading technology and a diverse range of international customers, while developing valuable skills in business development, relationship management and technical sales. For the right person, this role offers an excellent foundation for a successful and rewarding career within our wider Commercial team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities through telephone, email, LinkedIn and other digital channels.
  • Research prospective customers and organisations to understand their businesses, markets and potential requirements.
  • Generate and qualify leads through a combination of inbound enquiries, outbound prospecting and targeted industry research.
  • Engage with decision-makers and key stakeholders across a diverse range of organisations.
  • Follow up leads generated through marketing campaigns, exhibitions, events and webinars.
  • Support account-based marketing and targeted outbound campaigns.
  • Develop an understanding of our customers, markets and the challenges our technology helps to solve.
  • Use Salesforce CRM and other digital and AI-enabled tools to manage leads, plan activity and maintain accurate customer information.
  • Qualify opportunities and ensure relevant information is captured before passing potential opportunities to Sales Managers or Channel Partners.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing colleagues to maximise opportunities and continuously improve our approach to lead generation.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, activity and opportunities within our CRM.
  • Develop your knowledge of Sonardyne's products, technologies and markets as you progress in the role.

Who We're Looking For

We're more interested in your attitude, communication skills and potential than a particular career history. You might already have experience in sales, customer service, retail, telesales or business development, or you could be a graduate looking to take your first step into a commercial career. We're looking for someone who:

  • Is confident communicating with new people and enjoys building relationships.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is motivated by achieving results and has the persistence to follow opportunities through.
  • Is comfortable picking up the phone and starting conversations with prospective customers.
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys asking questions to understand customer needs.
  • Can organise and prioritise their workload effectively.
  • Is confident using technology and enjoys learning new systems and tools.
  • Has a positive, proactive and resilient approach.
  • Can adapt their communication style to different customers and situations.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Takes pride in doing things properly and maintaining high standards.
  • Is excited by the opportunity to learn about complex technology and develop a career within a global engineering business.

Experience & Qualifications

You don't need to have an engineering background to be successful in this role. We welcome applications from graduates and early-career candidates who can demonstrate the right combination of communication skills, commercial awareness and enthusiasm to learn. We'd particularly welcome experience in:

  • Sales or business development
  • Customer service
  • Telesales or lead generation
  • Retail or other customer-facing environments
  • B2B commercial environments
  • CRM or sales technology

Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system would be advantageous, as would experience working within a technical, engineering or B2B environment. A degree in Business, Engineering or another relevant subject would be beneficial, but equivalent practical experience and the right attitude are equally valued.

Where Could This Role Take You?

This role is designed to give you the knowledge, experience and confidence to build a successful commercial career. As you develop your understanding of our technology, customers and markets, there will be opportunities to take on increasing responsibility and progress within our wider Sales and Commercial teams. Whether your ambition is to develop into a Business Development, Sales or Account Management role, you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and build a career within a business at the forefront of marine and subsea technology.

Our Markets

You'll be working with customers across a fascinating range of industries, including:

  • Energy - Offshore renewables, oil and gas
  • Science - Environmental surveying, oceanography, research institutes and universities
  • Autonomy - Navigation, positioning and communication for ASVs, AUVs and ROVs
  • Maritime Security & Defence - National defence organisations, security integrators and specialist maritime customers

Why Sonardyne?

You'll be joining a company where innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our technology operates in environments where reliability, precision and performance really matter. You'll work alongside talented engineers, scientists, sales professionals and technical specialists, giving you the opportunity to learn from some of the best people in the industry. Most importantly, we'll invest in you. With structured onboarding, training and opportunities for development, this is a role where your ambition and potential can genuinely shape your career. If you're ambitious, curious, confident talking to people and excited by the opportunity to build a career in technical sales, we'd love to hear from you.
