Who is Sonar?

Sonar is driving the future of agent-centric software development. As the leader in AI code review and verification, we solve a critical problem: ensuring that software generated by AI-assisted developers or autonomous agents is reliable, secure, and maintainable. Integrating seamlessly with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, and Devin, we help over 75% of the Fortune 100 build trusted, reliable, compliant software. Customers who use Sonar are 44% less likely to report an outage due to AI-generated code. We believe code verification is the critical missing link in the Agent-Centric Development Cycle (AC/DC). Industry giants like Nvidia, ServiceNow, Booking.com, Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca, and Ford Motor Company count on us to provide independent, explainable, consistent review and governance of their AI-generated code via products like:

  • SonarQube: The world’s leading AI code review and verification platform.
  • SonarQube Foundation Agent: Currently topping the leaderboards for agentic software repair.
  • SonarSweep & Sonar Context Augmentation: Providing the enterprise-grade context and constraints agents need to be truly effective.

Our team operates across global hubs in Austin, Bochum, Dubai, Geneva, London, Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington D.C. We move with a mindset we call CODE:

  • Committed to our customers and community.
  • Obsessed with quality.
  • Deliberate in our decisions.
  • Effective as one team.

With over $400M in revenue and profitable, fast-paced growth, we are building the backbone of the AI software revolution. If you’re hungry to have an impact, want to build at a fast pace, and ready to work at the forefront of AI, we want to hear from you.

Position Description

As Sonar’s Marketing AI Engineer, you design, build, and maintain the AI agents and automated workflows that multiply the impact of the marketing function. You spend time with marketing stakeholders to understand their work in depth, identify where automation creates real leverage, and then build and iterate until it works well. You produce clear reporting on efficiency and impact, keeping marketing leadership informed on what the automations are actually delivering.

The best person for this role might be a marketing ops veteran who has taught themselves to build with AI, or an automation engineer who has gone deep on how marketing actually works. Either way, what matters is the combination: you understand marketing processes from the inside, and you can build reliable automations that make those processes faster, smarter, and more scalable.

What You Will Do

  • Map and prioritize automation opportunities: Work closely with marketing teams to develop a deep understanding of their day-to-day processes — identifying where AI agents and automated workflows can eliminate manual work, reduce errors, or unlock capabilities that weren’t previously possible.
  • Design and build AI agents: Develop AI agents and automated workflows that streamline marketing processes — from content production and campaign operations to reporting, lead routing, and personalization at scale.
  • Deploy and maintain automations: Own the full lifecycle of deployed agents — from initial release through ongoing monitoring, debugging, and iteration — ensuring reliability and performance as usage grows.
  • Produce efficiency and impact reporting: Track and report on workflow automation metrics — time saved, error rates, throughput, and business impact — delivering regular dashboards and summaries to marketing leadership.
  • Stay current on AI tooling: Continuously evaluate new AI models, agent frameworks, and automation platforms — bringing a clear point of view on what Sonar marketing should adopt, experiment with, or build on next.
  • Partner with Marketing Tooling & AI Operations: Collaborate closely with the Marketing Tooling & AI Operations Manager to understand the existing tool stack, ensure automations integrate reliably with it, and drive adoption of new AI-powered capabilities.
  • Ensure data quality and governance: Design automations that handle marketing data responsibly — with attention to data quality, privacy, and auditability across all deployed workflows.
  • Document and enable: Produce clear documentation for all deployed agents and workflows, and run internal enablement sessions to help the marketing team understand and effectively use what you have built.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Have 3+ years of experience in marketing operations, automation engineering, or a closely related role — with a track record of building workflows or automations that measurably improved team efficiency.
  • Have deep, hands-on knowledge of marketing processes and tools — including CRM (Salesforce), marketing automation, campaign ops, analytics, and content workflows. A marketing ops practitioner who has grown into building automations is a strong fit.
  • Be experienced with no-code/low-code automation platforms (e.g., Make, Zapier, n8n) and comfortable extending them with scripting when needed (Python and/or JavaScript).
  • Have working familiarity with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Assistants) or a demonstrated ability and appetite to ramp quickly.
  • Be experienced integrating with third-party APIs and working with marketing data structures (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, GA, Marketo).
  • Have strong analytical skills and experience building performance dashboards and reporting for deployed automations.
  • Be a clear communicator who can explain what an automation does — and why it matters — to non-technical stakeholders, and translate their requirements into precise technical specifications.
  • Bring intellectual curiosity and a bias to build — you stay current on the fast-moving AI landscape and bring that knowledge into your everyday work.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.

In-office culture

We’re intentional about this. We believe the best teams are built in the room together. Three anchor days — Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays — create the collaboration rhythm that makes a hub office worth having. Candidates need to be genuinely based in the location the role is posted — if that’s not where you are today, we’re happy to support relocation for the right person.

If you need any accommodation, please reach out to us at [email protected] . All offers of employment at Sonar are contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background check and reference verification conducted before the start date. We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
