Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Claims Technician in our Claims Operations team. The Senior Claims Technician provides administrative and technical support to the Claims Operations team to ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient handling of insurance claims. This role supports claims by entering data, overseeing bordereaux, monitoring workflows and message queues, and assisting with communication related to the claims process.

What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee processing of and reconcile claims bordereaux submitted by coverholders and TPAs.
  • Validate bordereaux data within internal systems and claims platforms and deal with exceptions.
  • Liaise with coverholders and TPAs to ensure bordereaux are received on a timely basis and are compliant with contract terms, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with Underwriting Operations, Finance, IT and Claims Managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth data flow and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Prepare regular bordereaux and claims management information reports.
  • General exception management, including monitoring and correcting duplicate payments and claims and ensuring data quality.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation and data accuracy and performing quality control checks.
  • Maintain effective communication with coverholders, TPAs, and other stakeholders.
  • Produce claims experiences for brokers and underwriters.
  • Process joiners, movers and leavers within the claims systems, including maintaining authority levels.
  • Process London Market messages and resolve issues.
  • Manage suspended messages between systems.
  • Identify system defects and raise issues through appropriate channels.
  • Support training and communications to users and wider business stakeholders.
  • Support payment processing and other system transactions where appropriate.
  • Oversee set up and reconciliation of loss funds.
  • Support the Claims Operations Manager and wider team with identifying process and system improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the administration of the Claims Operations mailbox.
  • Assist with general claims administrative support and provide holiday cover for other members of the Claims Operations team where necessary.
  • Be a point of escalation for the offshore team.
  • Deputise for the Claims Operations Manager where necessary.
  • Work with other team members and colleagues in other functions on project implementation.
  • Perform user acceptance testing where required.
  • Support with static claim reporting process.

What you'll bring:

  • Common sense, pragmatic approach.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document handling.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple things at once and prioritise accordingly.
  • Ideally, previous experience of claims processes and insurance products.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data validation etc).
  • Experience of producing both regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Experience of London Market insurance is an advantage.
  • Experience of using insurance systems - particularly Guidewire ClaimCenter, ECF2, CLASS, Guidewire PolicyCenter and Subscribe - is an advantage.
