Job Description

Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Claims Examiner in our Claims Department for our Property business.

Our Property Claims team services a diverse range of UK and international business. We work through a network of brokers and directly with clients to tailor solutions to the needs of our customer base. We are committed to delivering good, fair and appropriate outcomes for our customers; efficient service, timely responses and fast payment of covered claims – this is our promise, our ease of expertise.

Location: Non-specific and flexible. This position will be based out of one of our regional offices, either Manchester or Birmingham. The candidate will be required to report into and regularly travel to Head Office in London. What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking responsibility for a large and growing caseload of claims.
  • Maintaining operational and technical oversight of key outsource arrangements.
  • Ensuring accuracy of financial recording and reporting under referral to management.
  • Acting as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending internal claim meetings, market meetings and seminars and representing the company as and when required.
  • Managing relationships with service providers, including TPAs, outsource providers and panel lawyers and adjusters.

What you’ll bring:

  • Technical proficiency and a proven record of successfully handling property claims with at least 2 years (plus) experience.
  • Effective and efficient communication both orally and in writing.
  • A strong work ethic, high standards for performance and accountability for your output.
  • Honest and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Established experience of the insurance industry processes and procedures.
