Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Compliance Assurance Officer (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract, Mat Cover) in our Group Compliance team. Our Compliance Team aims to help Sompo’s businesses “to do the right thing”. This includes ensuring that wherever Sompo conducts business, we comply with our legal, regulatory and ethical obligations. We also help champion Sompo’s Core Values in the way we conduct business and deal with our clients, partners and regulators. This includes maintaining an effective and risk-based assurance and monitoring function and making effective use out of our systems and compliance training providers.

What you’ll be doing:
- Perform and deliver assigned assurance activities as per the Annual Group Compliance Plan to assess the effectiveness of the overall compliance program and adherence to established policies, standards and controls for key compliance risks.
- Oversee mandatory training for the company, liaising with internal SMEs, HR Systems team and external service providers to ensure timely delivery of the annual training plan and working with our HR team to monitor completion of training.
- Maintenance of the Compliance manual and Codes of Conduct and other mandatory compliance policies.
- Creation and collation of management information for internal management and relevant Boards/Committees.
- Support the Head of Compliance Assurance and Group Corporate Services in the delivery of excellent and responsive compliance support to the business in a busy and fast-moving team.
What you’ll bring:
- Relevant compliance and/or re/insurance audit experience in the insurance sector.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills (including use of data systems).
- Ability to work well within a global team and manage priorities appropriately.
- Understanding of core legal and regulatory concepts that apply to insurance.
