Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Financial Reporting Accountant in our Finance team. Our Finance team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of Sompo International. The team applies subject matter expertise in accounting principles and regulatory standards to deliver high-value, complex financial activities, enabling the organization to achieve its business objectives.

What you’ll be doing:
- Contribute to and advise on operational team plans to ensure alignment with broader business strategies and priorities.
- Apply expertise to guide and support team members, ensuring accuracy, adherence to standards, and good practices in accounting processes.
- Manage and execute high-value and complex accounting activities, including preparation of statutory and regulatory reporting outputs such as annual financial statements, tax returns, and entity reporting packs.
- Conduct analysis and reviews of financial results, prepare ad-hoc reports, and support senior finance teams in producing management information reports for monitoring business activity, expenditure, and budget performance.
- Ensure compliance with delegated authority limits, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards, including GAAP and FCA/Lloyd’s regulations.
- Act as a subject matter expert to provide advice, guidance, and support to colleagues, stakeholders, and project teams, ensuring solutions meet functional needs.
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in financial disciplines, including GAAP and regional accounting standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g., Excel) and other finance-specific software tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines.
- Proven experience in a finance environment within a complex multinational financial services business, including resolving finance or accounting queries and working with specialist tools or applications.
- Degree-level education (or equivalent) preferred, with finance or accounting qualifications completed or nearing completion.
