b Overview /b p As an Underwriter in Sompo’s London-based Middle Market team, you will assess new and renewal submissions to identify profitable opportunities aligned with our business plan. You will price, structure, and set terms for multi-line risks, while maintaining strong broker relationships and a disciplined risk framework. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to grow a quality portfolio and ensure prudent governance and compliance. You will engage with clients and brokers to deliver value and support long-term partnerships. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li Health Wellness Benefits /li li Retirement Savings Plans /li li Global Parental Leave Adoption Assistance /li li Employee Assistance Program /li li Tuition Reimbursement Professional Qualification benefits /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Prioritize and evaluate new and renewal submissions to maximize profitable opportunities within the business plan /li li Price, analyze coverage, structure, and exposures on individual risks /li li Set terms and conditions per underwriting strategy and guidelines to quote qualified risks /li li Attend client/broker meetings and related events to strengthen relationships /li li Exercise pricing discipline to meet profitability goals and comply with guidelines and procedures /li li Expand portfolio by developing existing relationships and pursuing new prospective clients /li li Support strong customer relationships balanced with risk mitigation and compliance culture /li li Conduct underwriting audits as needed on individual accounts /li li Complete referral applications for risks outside authority for higher level approval /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Underwriting experience in Property and Liability within the middle market /li li Experience in other lines of business is a plus /li li At least 5 years of P C underwriting experience /li li Established relationships with retail producers /li li Strong negotiation skills /li li Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) /li li Excellent written and verbal communication skills /li li Undergraduate, Insurance or advanced degree preferred /li /ul ul li Strong communication skills /li li Negotiation and relationship-building /li li Collaborative and team-oriented /li li Microsoft Office Suite /li li Underwriting guidelines and procedures /li li Pricing and risk analysis /li /ul
