Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Catastrophe Analyst in our Cat Modelling team in our Central Analytics Department.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for the candidate to further develop their knowledge and understanding of Catastrophe Modelling within an insurance operation across multiple lines of business while working closely with underwriting teams across London, Europe and APAC platforms by providing analytics to support underwriting decisions.

What you’ll be doing:
- Pre-modelling of underwriting submissions for Property, Energy, Marine and any other lines as per business needs
- Supporting the pricing of complex accounts
- Portfolio reporting – preparation and management of risk modelling ready for monthly roll up process across multiple lines of business
- Involvement in the development of automated cat modelling tools
- Assisting in data reporting for internal and regulatory purposes
- Provide support and training to the more junior members of team
- Ad hoc projects as required
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience with portfolio roll-ups, preferably in an insurance environment
- Proficient in SQL with proven experience of building reporting tools
- A keen focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
Not essential but preferred skills:
- Experience with Moody platforms: Risklink and the IRP (UIQ in particular)
- Experience of additional coding languages e.g. Python, R and using geospatial platforms
- VBA
