Job DescriptionAre you looking for your next opportunity?Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Catastrophe Modelling Analyst in our Catastrophe Modelling team.The Catastrophe Modelling Analyst provides an excellent opportunity for the candidate to develop their knowledge and understanding of Catastrophe Modelling within an insurance operation across multiple lines of business while working closely with underwriting teams across London, Europe and APAC platforms by providing analytics to support underwriting decisions.Location: This position will be based out of our London office. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environmentwhere our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunity:What you’ll be doing:Pre-modelling of underwriting submissions for Property, Energy, Marine and any other lines as per business needsAssisting portfolio reporting – preparation and management of risk modelling ready for monthly roll up process across multiple lines of businessRegulatory returnsAd hoc projects as requiredAbility to understand and communicate technical conceptsUnderstand and interpret slips to ascertain key modelling assumptions, and ensure completeness of data, liaising with brokers and other parties to supplement where necessaryWhat you’ll bring:Experience in cat modelling, preferably in an Insurance environmentexperience and knowledge of the RMS detailed loss modelling platformCompetent in SQL and VBA with proven experience of building reporting toolsKnowledge of GIS tools an advantageStrong numerical data handling and analysis skillsAbility to understand and communicate technical conceptsAbility to work effectively individually and as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skills – position requires interaction with numerous employees on all platforms of businessAt Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
