Sompo seeks a Senior Compliance Assurance Officer for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract (Mat Cover). The role is based in our London office and is part of the Group Compliance team, which supports Sompo’s business by ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory and ethical obligations, championing core values, and maintaining a risk‑based assurance and monitoring function.
Responsibilities
- Perform and deliver assigned assurance activities as per the Annual Group Compliance Plan to assess the effectiveness of the overall compliance program and adherence to established policies, standards and controls for key compliance risks.
- Oversee mandatory training for the company, liaising with internal SMEs, the HR Systems team, and external service providers to ensure timely delivery of the annual training plan and monitor training completion.
- Maintain the Compliance Manual, Codes of Conduct, and other mandatory compliance policies.
- Create and collate management information for internal management and relevant Boards/Committees.
- Support the Head of Compliance Assurance and Group Corporate Services in delivering excellent and responsive compliance support to the business in a busy and fast‑moving team.
Qualifications
- Relevant compliance and/or re/insurance audit experience in the insurance sector.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills, including use of data systems.
- Ability to work well within a global team and manage priorities appropriately.
- Understanding of core legal and regulatory concepts that apply to insurance.
