Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Natural Catastrophe Analytics Analyst in our Risk team in our Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management team. The Natural Catastrophe Analytics Analyst will report directly to the Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management Lead, playing a key role in building and enhancing progressive Risk Analytics capabilities across Sompo. This position will contribute significantly to delivering impactful, actionable analytics that inform risk managers and business leaders. The role focuses primarily on assessing and managing natural catastrophe risks across multiple lines of business, supporting effective catastrophe risk mitigation for the company.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform Group roll-ups in Resolver utilizing roll-ups and information provided by Insurance, Reinsurance and Ceded Re.
  • Analyse and interpret the roll-ups in order to provide insight and commentary into the modelled nat cat risk profile of the organization.
  • Produce, maintain, and refine group reports.
  • Operate and optimise natural catastrophe risk analytics tools and workflows, seeking opportunities for automation to reduce manual intervention.
  • Interpret and manage the integration of ceded contracts within exposure management tools.
  • Collaborate with various business stakeholders, responding to ad-hoc requests and needs which require the team's expertise and output.
  • Provide high-quality input on analytical projects, delivering insights and recommendations to the business.
  • Provide support as directed and required to Natural Catastrophe Risk Analytics development projects.
  • Support the Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management Lead, Group Risk Analytics team, and broader Group Risk function as needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in exposure management, natural catastrophe risk analytics, or related fields, with multi-line business reporting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and MS Excel; experience with Python, Power BI, and/or Julia is desirable.
  • Strong programming skills for tool creation, optimization, and process automation.
  • Extensive experience with third-party natural catastrophe models, particularly RMS RiskLink (Risk Modeler experience is a plus).
  • Technical or analytical background, especially in natural hazards, is an advantage.
  • Experience with man-made and systemic risks is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights despite uncertainty or incomplete data.
  • Certified Specialist in Catastrophe Risk (CSCR) or equivalent preferred; CCRA (RMS) or CEEM (AIR) certifications are beneficial.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Pragmatic approach with intellectual curiosity.
