L'Enclume located in the beautiful village of Cartmel in the Lake District has been awarded 3 Michelin stars, 1 Michelin Green star and 5 AA Rosettes. We pride ourselves on serving exceptional local and seasonal ingredients via our carefully curated tasting menus and delivering an exceptional experience for our guests. We are open 5 days a week for Dinner - Tuesday - Saturday and 4 for Lunch - Wednesday - Saturday. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

We are currently recruiting for a passionate Assistant Head Sommelier to join our team in Cartmel. Our wine cellar at L'Enclume combines small growers with big names including various hidden gems from around the world. Our wine team cleverly pair unique styles of wines and non‑alcoholic beverages with our award-winning food, and guide our guests through our extensive wine list with in‑depth knowledge and passion. The role will work very closely with our Head Sommelier to drive the beverage programme at the restaurant.

An overview of the role:

  • Demonstrating high standards of beverage service skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of food & beverage pairing, the broader world of wine, art of wine service
  • Understanding the logistics of stock management and ordering
  • Able to think beyond the realm of wine, with non‑alcoholic beverages playing a fundamental part of our offering
  • Running all sections in the restaurant to the expected standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a 15 course tasting menu
  • Demonstrating ability to train and nurture junior team members

We are keen to hear from Sommeliers with experience in a similar high-quality environment, completed WSET Level 3 and above all a passion for wine, liquor and champagne. We offer a competitive salary and 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year.
