Monzo is expanding its Business Banking and Borrowing capabilities. We are looking for a Director to build and lead our credit risk function for lending to business banking customers. The role is based in London or Remote (UK) with a salary range of £165,000 – £200,000 plus performance incentives.
About the Team
The Borrowing (lending) team focuses on developing credit risk strategies for small and medium‑sized sole traders and limited companies, automated decisioning and credit risk management. It works across Monzo’s engineering, marketing, product, risk and control groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead and expand a team of credit analysts and managers.
- Design, implement and refine credit and pricing strategies for business lending products.
- Monitor performance of existing strategies and iterate to improve them.
- Drive initiatives to improve credit underwriting and manage portfolio risk.
- Support the design and roll‑out of new products and customer journeys in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Provide leadership within the Business Banking and Borrowing Collectives and participate as a member of the Borrowing Leadership Team.
Qualifications
- Strong domain expertise in lending to small businesses.
- Track record of leading analytical credit teams.
- Deep understanding of business lending regulation and industry best practice.
- Passionate about customers and understanding the impact of credit strategies and policies on outcomes.
- Comfortable balancing qualitative market research with quantitative data and A/B test outcomes.
- Strong analytical and data capabilities backed by technical coding skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate decision points.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and thrive in a fast‑moving environment.
