Role: Video Editor (Remote)

Priority Location: South Africa

Working Hours: 40 Hours, Monday to Friday

Salary Range: $1,500 – $2,000 USD/month

Type of contract: Independent Contractor

About the Company:

Our client is a UK-based property law firm specialising in lease extensions, helping homeowners navigate complex legal processes around property ownership. The business is highly growth-focused and AI-forward, led by a visionary CEO who is actively investing in building an in-house content engine to drive awareness and demand. They are currently in the early stages of scaling their YouTube and short-form content strategy, targeting younger first-time property buyers who will later require lease extension services. The company operates with a remote-first, collaborative culture, emphasising:

  • Camera-on communication
  • Fast feedback loops
  • Proactive, ownership-driven team members

About the Role:

Our client is transitioning away from an expensive US-based marketing agency to build an in-house content capability. While early traction is promising (hundreds of views and growing subscribers), the current output lacks:

  • Polish and consistency
  • Strong visual storytelling
  • Platform-native optimisation

They are looking for a hands-on Video Editor who can own the editing process end-to-end and elevate content quality significantly.

Role Overview:

This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented Video Editor who is confident working across both long-form and short-form content, with strong motion graphics and animation skills. You’ll work closely alongside their Content Lead and the CEO to bring complex legal/property concepts to life through engaging, easy-to-understand visuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit long-form YouTube videos (up to ~25 minutes)
  • Create short-form content for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and similar platforms
  • Design and implement motion graphics/animations to simplify complex topics
  • Develop thumbnails, title cards, hooks, and captions optimised for each platform
  • Ensure consistent brand and visual quality across all content
  • Own the end-to-end editing workflow, from raw footage to final delivery
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders through regular check-ins
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback and performance insights

What They’re Looking For:

Core Skills:

  • Strong video editing experience (Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar)
  • Proven motion graphics/animation capability
  • Experience with both long-form and short-form content
  • Understanding of platform-native content (YouTube, TikTok, Shorts)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience visualising technical or complex topics
  • Exposure to AI tools in editing workflows
  • Basic understanding of content performance and optimisation

Soft Skills:

  • Proactive and takes ownership
  • Strong communicator (comfortable in a camera-on culture)
  • Detail-oriented with a strong eye for polish
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, feedback-driven environment
  • Able to integrate into a remote, collaborative team
