We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Team Leader to join our skilled joinery team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong background in bespoke joinery, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to support, guide, and motivate others in a busy workshop environment. You’ll play a key role in producing high-quality joinery items from detailed drawings and specifications, while helping to manage workflow, maintain production standards, support new team members, and ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Role & Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from detailed manufacturing drawings / specifications to create bespoke joinery items.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials using a variety of tools and state-of-the art machinery.
  • Assemble, fit, and finish joinery products to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work with other joiners on the team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Ensure that products are successfully manufactured based on the drawing.
  • Assign tasks to team members.
  • Train new team members on processes, safety, and machines.
  • Ensuring the team adheres to production schedules and deadlines.
  • Identifying areas for improvement aimed at lowering costs.
  • Monitoring production standards and quality control.
  • Identify and resolve problems and bottlenecks in the production process.
  • Open / close the workshop in the absence of the workshop manager.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a joiner, preferably within a workshop environment.
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification in joinery or carpentry.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality joinery work.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of joinery tools and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of joinery techniques, materials, and finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing drawings and specifications.
