Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from detailed manufacturing drawings/specifications to create bespoke joinery items.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials using a variety of tools and state-of-the-art machinery.
  • Assemble, fit, and finish joinery products to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work with other joiners on the team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Ensure that products are successfully manufactured based on the drawing.
  • Assign tasks to team members.
  • Train new team members on processes, safety, and machines.
  • Ensure the team adheres to production schedules and deadlines.
  • Identify areas for improvement aimed at lowering costs.
  • Monitor production standards and quality control.
  • Identify and resolve problems and bottlenecks in the production process.
  • Open/close the workshop in the absence of the workshop manager.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a joiner, preferably within a workshop environment.
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification in joinery or carpentry.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality joinery work.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of joinery tools and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of joinery techniques, materials, and finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing drawings and specifications.
