The Governing Body of Somerville College invites applications for a Mary Ewart Junior Research Fellowship in Classics tenable for three years from 1 October 2026.

In this role you will:

  • engage in research in a field of classical languages and literature, classical archaeology or ancient history
  • present an annual report on your work to the college's Governing Body

While you will not be required to teach as part of this Fellowship, you may be asked to do so, or to contribute to the undergraduate admissions exercise.

As part of our community of academics you will receive membership of our Senior Common Room. You will also have full dining rights and receive a research allowance of £1,000 per year.
