Somerset Wildlife Trust is looking for new Trustees to join us at a pivotal time for nature, and we’re keen to hear from people from all backgrounds and walks of life. For over 60 years, we’ve been protecting and restoring Somerset’s habitats and species, caring for over 1,700 acres of nature reserves and working with communities across the county. But with the climate and nature crisis more urgent than ever, we need fresh perspectives, new voices, and diverse experiences to help guide our work as we strive to create a wilder Somerset by 2030.

Who we’re looking for:
- Individuals who share our passion for nature and commitment to its recovery
- Can think strategically and contribute to effective decision‑making
- Bring independent judgement, creativity, and a collaborative approach
- Are willing to dedicate time to support the Trust’s governance
You do not need previous Trustee experience—we will provide induction, training and ongoing support. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities, and career stages.
What’s involved:
- Attend 4 Trustee meetings per year (half‑day, in person)
- Join at least one committee (quarterly online meetings)
- Attend the AGM and an annual development day
- Prepare for meetings and contribute to discussions
Trustee terms are three years, with the option to renew. This is a voluntary role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
