Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bank Advanced Practice Radiographer/Mammographer to join the Somerset Breast Screening Programme at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, on a bank shift basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-performing, inclusive breast care team dedicated to delivering outstanding care with kindness, respect, and teamwork. As part of the Breast Care Centre, you will be responsible for mammographic image interpretation and reporting, supporting both routine screening and higher-risk surveillance imaging. You will work closely with the breast radiology team and participate in arbitration and consensus reviews, helping to maintain the high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care. The successful candidate will have film reading experience within the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and demonstrate competence in identifying mammographic abnormalities, minimizing false positives, and accurately recording findings using NHSBSP systems.

Responsibilities
- Have demonstrable film reading experience within the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP).
- Provide image interpretation and reporting for screening mammograms within the Somerset NHSBSP.
- Support the Somerset Breast Radiology team by reviewing higher-risk and follow-up surveillance imaging, when required.
- Perform the role of mammographic film reader under the direction of the Director of Breast Screening.
- Be competent in identifying mammographic abnormalities and minimizing false positive findings.
- Record findings using the NHSBSP image reading system, including identifying cases requiring technical recall.
- Undertake regular self-audit of image reading performance to maintain high standards.
- Provide professional registration details to enable access to essential Trust IT systems.
- Attend and comply with all mandatory pre-employment checks as required by the Trust.
- Participate in arbitration and consensus case reviews with members of the Somerset breast screening team as required.
