Somerset House Studios is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Studios Coordinator to join the team.
The Studios Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating a supportive and efficient environment for the resident artist community and is responsible for the coordination of all operational and administrative aspects of Somerset House Studios.
With up to 70 artists in residence at any time and a year-round programme of activities, the ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and a collaborative team player, with a sensitive, responsive and solutions-focused approach. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy creative problem-solving, and have a genuine interest in the work of Somerset House Studios.
Reporting directly to the Residency Producer, the Studios Coordinator works in close collaboration with both the Somerset House Studios and Digital Programming and Producing teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is seeking to develop a broad experience within an entry level arts coordination role. We are looking for someone who:
- Has previously held responsibility for carrying out administrative tasks (this could be through work, educational, extracurricular, voluntary or other paid experience).
- Is highly motivated with a desire to learn new skills.
- Has a positive and proactive approach to tasks, problem solving and new challenges.
- Experience of being the first point of contact, dealing with enquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience of handling multiple priorities while working to deadlines.
- A clear interest and enthusiasm in the work of Somerset House Studios.
Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in processing applications, contracts, and financial administration.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to supporting artists\’ needs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with residents and colleagues.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills, confidence in using databases, spreadsheets, and other administrative tools.
