What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of children here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
As a family time support worker you will:
- Supervise face to face and/or virtual family time between children and their relatives.
- Participate in the assessment of the quality of family members family time with children and provide advice, support and assistance to relatives to allow them to safely care for children during family time sessions.
- Record, within appropriate and agreed time scales and using departmental forms and/or IT systems, the details and nature of children\’s family time with their relatives.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
- Have some experience in a caring or supporting role.
- Have ability to undertake direct work with children and their families to improve parenting skills and relationships.
- Are literate and numerate to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Can demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- The ability to travel to different locations across the county and occasionally beyond.
