  • Location: Taunton base, to work across Somerset
  • Hours: Full time and part time hours available
  • As a 24-hour service, we can offer some flexibility to working hours with a variety of shifts, but will need to include weekends, nights and bank holidays.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

This is an opportunity to develop your career as an AMHP in a supportive and friendly team. We are a team of 12 AMHPs who work from a 24/7 AMHP Hub that is co-located with our Mental Health Social Care Team and the Community Mental Health teams.

Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Travelling across Somerset to carry out Mental Health Act assessments.
  • Shaping and influencing the development of the adult social care service.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Are motivated to use all your AMHP and social care skills to engage with people and their families in creative ways.
  • Have strong social care values, flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act and its interface with the Mental Capacity Act, as well as a good understanding of the Care Act.
  • Have access to / use of a vehicle. This essential due to Somerset being a rural area.

Our service users also expect high standards and the ability to work in a holistic way.

Anything else I should know?

You will need to beable and willing to travel countywide, including to areas that are not currently serviced by public transport.

This is a Grade 9 post with a current salary of£40,476 to £44,711 per annum.The starting salary would normally be at the minimum point of the grade.
