About the Role
As a Peripatetic Registered Manager, you’ll be deployed where your leadership is needed most—supporting homes and fellow managers or stepping in as a CQC Registered Manager when required. You’ll be fully accountable for performance, regulatory compliance, financial oversight, and team development within the services you support.
This is a role that demands adaptability, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for continuous improvement. You\’ll drive operational excellence, inspire teams, and play a pivotal part in shaping outstanding care across Somerset.
You will need previous experience of working as a PeripateticRegistered Home Manager in a similar setting.
As part of your role, your duties will include:
- Act as the CQC PeripateticRegistered Home Managerwhen required—holding legal accountability for the service.
- Provide visible leadership, adapting your management style to meet the needs of different homes and teams.
- Lead and support service improvement initiatives aligned with Somerset Care’s strategic goals.
- Build, develop, and inspire high-performing teams, setting clear objectives and holding people accountable
- Drive quality assurance through audits, governance processes, and risk assessments.
- Investigate complaints or concerns and implement learning-based improvements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ensure financial sustainability of the services you manage, including occupancy levels and profitability.
- Work in partnership with Area Managers, internal teams, external regulators (e.g., CQC), and local communities.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of staff to ensure a capable and motivated workforce.
- Support team members’ growth through performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
As a PeripateticRegistered Home Manager, you must have:
- Experience of managing and delivering against budgets.
- Experienced of investigating complaints and service quality issues.
- Experience of governance systems and structures including audits.
- Experience of implementing and maintaining service improvement or a change project, throughout the project lifecycle to business as usual.
- Has good IT literacy skills and understanding to enable the use of different forms of systems and technology.
- Has Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) Level 5
- Valid current driving licence and vehicle for use
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Honesty and respect for confidentiality
- Clean and tidy appearance
- Having the ability to demonstrate a compassionate approach.
- Highly motivated
- Nurse pin is desirable
