Senior Safeguarding and Education Advisor – Safeguarding and Integrity

The England and Wales Cricket Board is the national governing body for cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level, from recreational to professional. The ECB aims to make cricket the most inclusive team sport by delivering the Inspiring Generations strategy and connecting communities to improve lives through cricket.

Location: England and Wales – 3 days a week working in the network or at an ECB office in NW8 8QZ

About the Role

The ECB Board sets standards for on and off-field activity through regulations, overseen by the General Counsel and scrutinized by the Regulatory Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Education & Support in disciplinary, anti-discrimination, integrity, and safeguarding departments.
  • Support operational delivery plans.
  • Manage a team of County Safeguarding Advisors (x 3).
  • Guide CSAs on safeguarding cases below threshold level requiring additional guidance.
  • Allocate work based on risk, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and reported timely.
  • Share best practices to help counties achieve safeguarding compliance and aim for Leading Organisation status.
  • Engage with CEOs, Safeguarding Leads, and Officers to maintain consistent standards.
  • Deliver educational talks to professional games like The Hundred & T20.
  • Lead audit and quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure ECB Safe Hands policies are current.
  • Support digital safeguarding initiatives, including low-level concerns in the Clue system.
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training for various stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven success in leading a team.
  • Experience in a senior safeguarding role.
  • Knowledge of integrity issues in sport.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver training and host events/webinars.
  • Flexible, proactive attitude committed to creating safer environments.
