We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Receptionist to join our CQC Outstanding GP Practice as part of a maternity cover position starting April 2026. This is a valued role at the heart of our organisation supporting patients, coordinating care, and helping the practice run smoothly every day.
As a GP receptionist, no two days are the same. It's a fast-paced role that requires compassion, resilience, and strong communication skills but it's also incredibly rewarding. Main duties of the jobIn this role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a welcoming and professional service both in person and over the telephone and online. You'll be responsible for handling appointment bookings, signposting patients to the right services, managing enquiries, and supporting the clinical team with a range of administrative tasks. This includes maintaining accurate records, processing documentation, and helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy environment. You'll play an important part in delivering excellent patient care and supporting the overall operations of the practice.

Job responsibilitiesProvide a wide range of reception and administrative support to the multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include greeting and directing patients, managing the appointment system, handling enquiries, processing information, and acting as the main point of contact for patients and external agencies.
Person SpecificationQualifications- Good general education (GCSE level or equivalent).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Training in customer service, administration, or healthcare support.
- EMIS or TPP SystmOne training.
- Experience working in a customer-facing or administrative role.
- Experience handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries.
- Experience using computer systems for data entry and record keeping.
- Previous experience in a GP surgery, NHS, or healthcare environment.
- Experience processing confidential information in line with data protection regulations.
- Experience using clinical systems such as EMIS or SystmOne.
