Somerce is a TikTok Shop specialist agency driving GMV growth for some of the fastest-growing beauty, fashion, lifestyle and FMCG brands across the UK, US and EU — from live commerce and affiliates to paid media and trading strategy. We are scaling fast across markets and currencies, and we are looking for a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to be the operational backbone of our finance function. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the integrity of the numbers, keep the close tight, and build the controls and processes that let us scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month-end close and deliver accurate management accounts and commentary to deadline
- Manage multi-currency accounting across the UK, US and EU
- Oversee AP, AR, payment runs, billing accuracy and credit control against collection targets
- Own VAT returns, statutory filings and payroll; ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
- Improve and automate finance systems and processes as we grow
About You
- Part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
- 2–4 years' experience, including time in a commercial/industry finance role post-practice
- Strong technical accounting and a controls-led mindset, with proven ownership of month-end close and statutory reporting
- Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar)
- Confident with Excel and Google Workspace (G-Suite) — Sheets, Docs, Drive
- Fluent with Claude and similar AI tools — you reach for them to speed up analysis, drafting and process automation
- Experience in a digital agency, professional services, ecommerce, DTC or high-growth scale-up
- Hands-on, pragmatic and happy to own your workload in a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment
- Confident communicator who can explain finance clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Essential
- Proven experience in a finance or accounts role, ideally in a fast-paced or agency environment
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable
Desirable
- Part-qualified or fully qualified (AAT, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience working in a digital agency, ecommerce or startup environment
- Exposure to multi-currency accounting
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
