About the Role
We are looking for a Systems Engineer who thrives on designing and delivering multiple infrastructure builds. You will be part of a very technical team, building and deploying network and infrastructure solutions for scientific projects.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing and delivering infrastructure builds across multiple environments - on-prem, cloud, and hybrid.
- Building and managing Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Active Directory - GPO, DNS, DHCP, and file systems.
- Deploying and maintaining Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure - compute, networking, IAM, and storage.
- Managing and supporting Microsoft 365 - Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, SharePoint, and Azure AD.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining VMware vSphere/ESXi and Hyper-V virtual environments.
- Designing and building secure network infrastructures - switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
- Implementing and managing security controls, patching, and endpoint protection.
- Overseeing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Collaborating with project managers, developers, and clients to deliver tailored infrastructure solutions.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer in a multi-project environment.
- Strong background in infrastructure design, build, and deployment across varied environments.
- Experience in building multiple environments for each project.
- Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
- Solid hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - ideally across compute, networking, and identity management.
- Confident managing both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Skilled in VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation.
- Excellent understanding of networking fundamentals - VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Awareness of security best practice, monitoring, and compliance.
- Strong documentation skills and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
