Solvit Recruitment are looking for a HGV Mobile Fitter. This is a permanent position with a salary from £42,000 P.A. You will be working for a fantastic company that really looks after their team, and they now need an experienced HGV Mobile Fitter to provide technical and mechanical support to their growing fleet of articulated vehicles, rigids, and trailers.
As HGV Fitter, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the company fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are serviced, maintained, and repaired in accordance with Operators Licence requirements. You will also prepare vehicles for annual tests and road test vehicles to certify roadworthiness.
You will take ownership from day one, which will be a full set up that you can make your own. Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00. There is on call between the hours of 06:00 – 18:00, which can vary but no late evenings.
This is a brand new position where you will have full support. You will be given your own van which you can take home, and you will be working primarily in the yard with repairs and help with any breakdowns. While working from the yard, we will be looking for new premises for a workshop for you to run.
You will need a HGV Class 1 licence, as you will take the truck for MOT's.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Repair, maintain and service all HGV and Trailers as required.
- Ensure you work in compliance with Health and Safety policies.
- Carry out routine servicing and MOT preparation.
- Completion of all documentation as required and ensure accurate records are kept.
- Record and report damages and defects.
- Ensure inspections are carried out in specified time periods.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Good knowledge and experience of HGV's and Trailers.
- NVQ qualified essential.
- IRTEC certification essential.
- Knowledge of Safe Loading Working Devices.
- HGV Class 1 licence essential.
- Able to service, diagnose and repair various types of HGV and Trailers.
