We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Smallworld Developer to join our team in the UK. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of hands-on experience with Smallworld technologies, Magik programming, and strong domain knowledge in Electric and Gas Office solutions. You will be responsible for system configuration, customization, patching, and troubleshooting of complex systems within a customer-specific environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain applications using Smallworld PNI, Core SW4, SW5, EO, GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, NRM, and K8.
  • Code in Magik and Java to support and enhance system functionalities.
  • Manage and support VMDS and Oracle database systems.
  • Perform SQL scripting and shell scripting to automate tasks and resolve issues.
  • Analyze, interpret, and debug log files for error resolution.
  • Install and configure Smallworld suite of products including Electric Office, Gas Office, and associated web modules.
  • Apply OS patches and third-party software (e.g., ONA, Data Center Management tools).
  • Troubleshoot issues in live customer environments and implement fixes.
  • Participate in development processes and use source control systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients, both written and verbal.
  • Utilize MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook for documentation and communication.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Smallworld Core and related modules.
  • Strong expertise in Magik, Java, VMDS, and Oracle.
  • Hands-on with SQL and shell scripting.
  • Proven debugging and problem-resolution skills.
  • Experience with Smallworld customization, Citrix environments, and live system maintenance.
  • Good understanding of object-oriented programming and system administration (preferred).
