Steam Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician
Solvere Technical Group has an opening for a Steam Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician in Norfolk, VA. The role requires working knowledge of Automatic Boiler Control Systems, Main/Auxiliary/Waste Heat Boilers, Main Feed Systems, Main Shaft Seals, Line Shaft Bearings, Main Reduction Gears, Pump alignments, and Vibration Analysis.
Due to ongoing modifications and upgrades of shipboard systems and equipment, and variations across vessels, this list is not all-inclusive.
Contractor personnel shall possess the following minimum experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities at the time of work commencement:
Required Experience:
- Experience using MARMC’s Engineering Service Request (ESR) database and providing Departure from Specification (DFS) technical reviews.
- Ten (10) years of experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of US naval machinery.
- Experience in GTG Reduction Gear alignments, clutch assessment and repairs, and machinery vibration analysis.
Desired Experience:
- Experience developing and reviewing Engineering Approved Technical Procedures (EATP).
- Experience with Seals, Bulkhead Shaft Seals, and Auxiliary Equipment.
- Five (5) years of hands-on experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of various naval machinery and equipment.
- Ability to obtain certification of at least Category II Vibration Analyst within six months.
- Recent hands-on experience (within 18 months) with relevant equipment.
Education:
- A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, with at least three years of experience in mechanical repairs and troubleshooting of rotating machinery, may substitute for some experience requirements.
Security Requirements:
- Must have an active DOD Secret security clearance.
