Solvemed, in collaboration with the University of Essex, is seeking a Postdoctoral Senior Research Associate (Senior Research Officer) to join the EyeWarn project, a large-scale research initiative focused on detecting fatigue and cognitive strain through human-computer interaction and mobile eye biometrics. This is an opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research alongside experts from the University of Essex, Oxford, and Stanford University.

The EyeWarn project is the largest-scale study of its kind, aimed at detecting fatigue and cognitive strain across various sectors of UK society, with a particular focus on high-risk occupations. This three-year initiative combines expertise from the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) and the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex, known for their research excellence and state-of-the-art facilities. The successful candidate will manage lab-based and remote eye-tracking experiments using mobile eye-tracking technology. They will also curate large-scale datasets, working with both qualitative and quantitative data to support research objectives. This role is central to advancing experimental design and data collection for fatigue detection studies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, prepare, and conduct eye-tracking experiments in lab and remote settings.
  • Organize and curate large datasets, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis.
  • Develop questionnaires and conduct fieldwork to support research objectives.
  • Identify trends and patterns in eye-tracking and pupillometry data.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform study outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of research outputs for academic publication.
  • Organize and lead stakeholder events, workshops, and focus groups.
  • Collect and disseminate key research insights through national and international conferences.
  • Collaborate with industry and academic partners to support project goals.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in organizing and conducting experiments with human participants and technology.
  • Knowledge of eye-tracking and/or pupillometry techniques is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
