We provide high-integrity services including measurement system audits, uncertainty assessments, measurement calculation reviews, and independent third‑party witnessing of testing procedures.
Based in Scotland, work spans across global clients and project sites.
Role
We are inviting applications from both early‑career and experienced engineers to join our growing team. As a Flow Measurement Engineer (FME) at SOLV, you will manage projects from bid development through to final delivery. FMEs will become familiar with metering hardware, fluid properties and measurement best practice. You will use SOLV’s established tools and templates to deliver high‑quality outcomes, while also contributing to the development of new solution strategies.
Work will align with recognised international standards and SOLV’s responsibilities as a company with UKAS Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020:2012 for Inspection Services. SOLV® is also Certified to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, for Consultancy Services.
This technically stimulating role offers exposure to a wide range of flow measurement systems and hydrocarbon allocation challenges.
Offices are located on the West Coast of Scotland are ideally suited to candidates who enjoy outdoor activities. We operate with flexible working hours to benefit this.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support measurement system reviews, audits, and inspections
- Perform and review flow measurement, hydrocarbon allocation and uncertainty calculations
- Develop and maintain measurement procedures, specifications, and manuals
- Investigate and resolve ad‑hoc engineering and instrumentation issues
- Participate in international fieldwork as needed
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Commitment to professional integrity and objectivity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computing, or Chemistry
- Exposure to an engineering environment and some familiarity with instrumentation
- Professional background in the oil and gas sector
- Knowledge of flow measurement instrumentation and techniques
- Experience with auditing, inspection, or technical consultancy role
