- Overview
We are assisting a client in their requirement for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a Cisco network and security transformation programme.
As Project Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery, coordinating technical resources, stakeholders, third parties and business teams to ensure the migration is delivered successfully with minimal disruption to production services.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the project from initiation through design, build, migration, testing, cutover and handover into BAU.
- Develop and maintain the overall project plan, milestones, dependencies, RAID log and delivery schedule.
- Coordinate the deployment of the new Cisco Secure Firewall infrastructure, including FMC HA and multiple Firewall HA pairs.
- Manage the programme of Legacy Firewall configuration and policy migration, ensuring appropriate technical review, testing and sign-off.
- Coordinate the migration of Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch stacks to Catalyst 9300 infrastructure.
- Work closely with Network/Security Consultants, Architects and operational teams to ensure technical deliverables are completed to agreed timescales.
- Plan and coordinate production change windows, migrations and cutovers, including rollback planning and business communications.
- Manage dependencies between Firewall, routing/BGP, switching and associated infrastructure changes.
- Ensure appropriate HLD/LLD, implementation plans, migration plans, test plans, rollback plans and operational handover documentation are produced and approved.
- Manage technical and business risks, issues, actions and dependencies through to resolution.
- Coordinate CAB/change-management submissions and approvals where required.
- Provide clear project reporting to technical and senior stakeholders, including progress, risks, milestones and financial/resource position.
- Manage third-party suppliers and vendors where required.
- Ensure successful transition into operational support following implementation.
- Required Experience
- Strong experience delivering enterprise network and/or network security infrastructure projects.
- Previous delivery experience involving Firewall deployments, upgrades or migrations.
- Experience managing projects involving Cisco networking and security technologies would be highly desirable.
- Experience managing network switch refresh/migration programmes, ideally involving Cisco Catalyst infrastructure.
- Good understanding of enterprise networking concepts including routing, BGP, switching, high availability, Firewalls and network security.
- Experience managing complex infrastructure migrations within live production environments.
- Strong understanding of change management, implementation planning, testing, cutover and rollback processes.
- Proven experience coordinating Network Engineers, Security Engineers, Consultants and Architects.
- Strong RAID, dependency and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and multiple technical workstreams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical delivery issues into clear business impact and project risk.
Desirable
- Experience delivering projects involving Cisco Secure Firewall/Firepower/FTD/FMC.
- Exposure to Cisco Catalyst 3850 and 9300 environments.
- Experience delivering projects involving BGP/routing changes alongside Firewall migrations.
- Cisco infrastructure transformation or data centre/network refresh experience.
- Relevant project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile PM or equivalent.
