We are assisting a client who requires an experienced Cisco Network & Security Consultant to support a network and security infrastructure refresh, covering the deployment of Cisco Secure Firewall technology alongside a Cisco switching migration. This role requires strong technical capability across both network security and enterprise networking, with particular emphasis on Cisco Secure Firewall and advanced BGP.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deployment of a new Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) High Availability pair
- Deployment and configuration of HA pair Cisco Secure Firewalls
- Migration of existing Legacy Firewall configurations to the new environment
- Review and optimisation of migrated configurations in line with current Cisco and security best practices
- Configuration and migration of Firewall policies, NAT, objects and routing
- Integration of the new Firewall infrastructure with the existing network
- Configuration and troubleshooting of BGP and associated routing
- Migration of Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch stacks to Catalyst 9300
- Migration of VLANs, trunks, port channels and Layer 3 configurations as required
- Production implementation, testing and cutover
- Troubleshooting across network, routing and security layers
- Production of relevant technical and implementation documentation
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Secure Firewall/FTD
- Strong experience with Cisco Firewall Management Center (FMC)
- Experience deploying FMC and Firewalls in High Availability configurations
- Proven experience with Firewall migrations and configuration optimisation
- Advanced BGP knowledge, including configuration and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of routing protocols and enterprise network design
- Cisco Catalyst switching experience
- Experience with Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 9300 platforms
- Strong knowledge of VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel/PortChannel and Layer 3 switching
- Experience delivering network and security changes within production environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills across both networking and security technologies
