The Role
As a Telematics Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and repair of telematics and vehicle technology systems across a wide range of commercial vehicles, including HGVs, LGVs, LCVs and trailers. Working both independently and alongside customers, you will ensure installations are completed to the highest standards while delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install telematics systems into HGVs, LGVs, LCVs and trailers.
- Configure and commission telematics hardware and software.
- Diagnose and repair faults with telematics equipment and associated wiring.
- Carry out routine maintenance, upgrades and system replacements.
- Test installations to ensure correct operation and compliance with company standards.
- Complete installation reports and job documentation accurately.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers when required.
- Manage stock levels and maintain company vehicle and equipment.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
About You
- Previous experience installing vehicle telematics, CCTV, tracking, cameras or other automotive electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle electrics and fault finding.
- Experience working on commercial vehicles such as HGVs, LGVs, LCVs or trailers is highly desirable.
- Confident using wiring diagrams and electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge of CANbus systems and GPS systems.
- Experience in tachograph fitting and removal.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
