Specification Manager - Peterborough, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire

An established and highly respected UK lighting manufacturer is seeking an experienced Specification Manager to join its external sales team, covering Peterborough, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional with lighting industry experience to develop new business, strengthen existing relationships and manage projects from initial specification through to completion.

Working across the commercial, industrial and retail sectors, the successful candidate will engage with consulting engineers, architects, electrical contractors, local authorities, end users and distribution partners to generate demand and secure project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage specification opportunities across the designated territory.
  • Build strong relationships with consulting engineers, architects, electrical contractors, end users and local authorities.
  • Promote high-quality lighting solutions into commercial, industrial and retail projects.
  • Manage projects from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining and developing existing accounts.
  • Work closely with distribution partners to maximise project success.
  • Maintain accurate project information and manage the sales pipeline effectively.
  • Adhere to company quality, health & safety and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within the lighting industry.
  • Proven experience in specification sales or a similar technical sales role.
  • Ability to manage projects from conception through to completion.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Self‑motivated, organised and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of the territory and relevant customer base would be advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence.
