An established, nationwide fire & security and life safety specialist is looking to recruit an experienced Smoke Ventilation Designer & Surveyor to join its growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced smoke ventilation professional to work on a wide variety of commercial and residential projects, delivering compliant smoke control solutions from initial survey through to detailed design and technical support.

The Role:

As a Smoke Ventilation Designer & Surveyor, you will be responsible for surveying, designing and supporting the delivery of smoke ventilation and smoke control systems across a range of projects. You will carry out detailed site surveys, prepare technical documentation, provide specialist advice and ensure all solutions comply with current legislation and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design smoke ventilation and smoke control systems
  • Carry out detailed site surveys and inspections
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports and documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with current legislation, British Standards and industry regulations
  • Work closely with clients, contractors and internal teams throughout project delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and support from design through to completion
  • Review technical information and develop practical, compliant solutions

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in smoke ventilation design and/or surveying
  • Strong knowledge of: BS 7346, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS EN 12101, BS ISO 21927
  • Good understanding of Construction Products Regulations
  • Knowledge of smoke control manufacturers and approved systems
  • Proven experience delivering compliant smoke ventilation solutions
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Fire Safety or a related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Background in Fire Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience preparing or reviewing Cause & Effect documentation
