About the Company
Our client is a well-established distributor of high-quality packaging machinery, supplying and integrating capital equipment such as labellers, cappers, sealers, and flow-wrappers into production lines for the food and processing industries. Their customers include some of the UK’s most recognised blue-chip food companies, and they work closely with both customers and international equipment suppliers to deliver innovative and reliable packaging solutions.
The Role
We are seeking a talented Project Engineer with a strong engineering background and proven experience managing machinery installation projects within an FMCG environment. This is a varied, hands-on role that will see you working from home, visiting the Hereford office once a week, and regularly attending customer sites both in the UK and overseas. You will take full ownership of projects ranging from £2m at their largest to £350k on average, managing anything from 6-week to 12-month timelines, often running up to 8 projects concurrently. You will liaise closely with both customers and equipment suppliers, review CAD drawings, assess design layouts, attend site visits, and solve problems quickly and effectively to ensure seamless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end packaging machinery projects from concept to completion
- Review CAD drawings and technical layouts for machinery integration
- Conduct site visits and oversee installation and commissioning
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project success
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple concurrent projects
- Identify and resolve technical or logistical challenges efficiently
- Maintain high levels of customer service and build strong client relationships
About You
- Background in engineering and project management
- Experience in capital equipment or machinery installation within an FMCG environment (preferred)
- Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from shop floor to boardroom
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Confident working independently and managing your own schedule
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel in the UK and overseas
