An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Utility Surveyor to join a growing team based in Irvine. This role offers the chance to work on a range of infrastructure and construction projects, using modern survey technology to deliver accurate and reliable utility mapping services.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality surveys while working within a professional environment that values safety, precision, and ongoing development.
The Role
An experienced Utility Surveyor is required to carry out surveys across a variety of industries and locations. The role involves identifying utility pipes and cables for verification, validation, and excavation purposes, as well as gathering data to produce mapping information of underground and overhead distribution and supply services. This position may require travel across the UK, including working away from home during the week and occasional night work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting GPR and utility mapping surveys using specialist equipment
- Undertaking investigative utility surveys and completing documentation in accordance with company procedures
- Liaising with site surveyors, contractors, suppliers, and clients
- Producing Utility Survey Reports
- Carrying out quality control checks and issuing data to CAD teams
- Reviewing survey drawings before they are issued to clients
- Mentoring and supporting Trainee and Junior Surveyors where required
- Providing technical support to Project Managers and internal teams
Requirements
Essential:
- At least 2 years' experience in utility surveying
- Strong knowledge and experience of underground utility tracing and GPR
- Experience working across a variety of environments and complex surveys
- Ability to post-process GPR data
- Working knowledge of PAS 128:2014 specification surveys
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Valid CSCS card
Desirable:
- Experience using CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- ProQual (NVQ) Level 3
- SSSTS certification
Travel and Flexibility
Travel throughout the UK is common in this role. Candidates must be willing to work away from home during the week and accommodate night or evening shifts where required.
